Bradley Beal out of Tokyo Olympics because of health reasons

The U.S. team struggled with COVID19 under difficult circumstances while preparing for the Tokyo Olympics. The Americans lost a player on Thursday and set another player in a health and safety record. The American basketball team announced on Thursday night that the game which was originally scheduled to be held in Las Vegas on Friday night has been canceled “as a precautionary measure”.

“The overall goal is that we work hard to get everyone to Tokyo safely, as we prepare for the success of the basketball team. We try to keep track of what we are doing and where we are going”, Popovich said.

This was included in the game report on Wednesday and Bradley Beal was removed from the Olympics on Thursday, as a precautionary measure. Jeremy Grant was also included in the game report, but head coach Gregg Popovich is optimistic that this forward can stay on the team.”

Friday’s game was scheduled for 6:00 pm Eastern Time. Sources said on Thursday that the Australian team has been subjected to stricter protocols than the Americans, which may have played a role in Friday’s match cancellation. Team USA’s last exhibition match is with Spain this Sunday and they’re scheduled to leave for Japan on Monday.

Beal said earlier this week that it was a childhood dream to fight for the Olympics. Teammate Bam Adebayo said on Thursday that Bill had no symptoms. The team has movement restrictions, but players can move freely in hotels and casinos. Since Tokyo does not allow family and friends to enter, American Basketball invited them to Las Vegas and recorded it in the test report. On Thursday, US basketball officials held a meeting to determine a possible replacement for Beal. It is possible to select a player from the 57 man squad list announced earlier this year.

Popovich said that one of the considerations is the player’s health. There are many players in the offseason, some are on vacation, and some are just resting and not playing. The source said the team is expected to get the replacement by the end of Thursday. Popovich said: “We have to make sure that someone is in good physical condition because if we only participate in a few training sessions, there will be no time. In our opinion, this requires someone who adapts to everything quickly.”
