The US team stabilized in the most complete game of the Olympic preparations, beating Argentina with 108-80 points on Tuesday night. After the Americans struggled with their offensive and defensive endurance, they showed great appeal in both aspects in the game 12 days before the first Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The undisputed national offensive player Kevin Durant showed some rust after the suspension after losing seven consecutive games with the Brooklyn Nets in the Eastern Conference semifinals last month. The first two performances were flat and ended in unexpected failure. In the loss to Nigeria and Australia, he only shot 10 of 26 shots.

On Tuesday, Durant deliberately withdrew and scored a three-pointer in his first possession. He scored 8 points in the first quarter and scored 17 points on 6 of 9 shots.

A similar thing happened with Bradley Beal. He shot only 38% in the first two games and averaged 7 points per game to get back on track. Bill made the first four shots, including two three-pointers, and ended the game with 17 points. This is undoubtedly his best performance out of the three games. Despite being the second consecutive game and winning easily, Popovich played Beal 30 minutes in the 40-minute match in an attempt to help him regain shape.

Popovich listed additional conditions as one of the reasons why Americans lost first two games. In the past 12 months, most players had busy schedules and they are expected to take time off after the season is over, but this seems to have helped a slow start. Tuesday’s game, also showed the outstanding performance of the newest member of the US team, Zach LaVine, who hopes to increase his playing time this week, and issued a powerful statement with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

It must be said that Argentina, which rose to fourth in the world rankings after the silver medal in the 2019 World Cup, is the weakest team the Americans have faced. They are a great team and an older team than America. The team is led by 41-year-old former NBA player Luis Scola who also led the scoring with 16 points.
